LAWRENCE — Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels is coming back for a sixth and final season.
Daniels announced his decision on Friday night, posting on X “Love Me Or Hate Me I’m Finishing Where I Started.”
Daniels threw for 2,454 yards with 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions this past season while rushing for 439 yards and six touchdowns. Daniels struggled early, throwing eight interceptions in the first five games before turning it around and throwing for nine touchdowns and just two picks over the next six, leading KU to three straight wins against ranked teams.
Daniels began his KU career in 2020. A shoulder injury slowed his progress in 2022, and he missed all but three games in 2023 with a back injury before playing in all 12 games this season.
For his career, Daniels has thrown for 6,751 yards and 45 touchdowns and 24 picks, while rushing for 1,041 yards and 19 touchdowns. There was some question whether Daniels would transfer but he’s looking forward to the 2025 season.
“I’m staying to finish what we started, continue building and give back to the fans who’ve given us everything,” Daniels said on X. “Let’s make history, Jayhawk Nation!”
