KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has been suspended for the team’s first six games of the 2025 season.
Rice’s suspension stems from a multiple car high-speed collision in March 2024 on a Dallas freeway when Rice was driving a Lamborghini well over 100 mph.
In July, Rice was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years’ probation for his role in the crash. Rice participated in the team’s training camp but a suspension by the NFL loomed over. With Rice missing the first games of the season, he will be eligible to return for Week 7 at home against the Raiders on Oct. 19.
Rice, a second-round pick out of SMU in 2023, enjoyed an outstanding rookie season with 79 catches for 938 yards and seven touchdowns but a knee injury limited him to four games last season.
In an unusual move, the Chiefs kept eight receivers (including Rice) when they finalized their 53-man roster on Tuesday. The Chiefs will open the season Sept. 5 against the Chargers in Brazil.
