Chiefs wide receivers Xavier Worthy and Cyrus Allen were injured during Saturday’s practice in St. Joseph, Mo.
Worthy left with a shoulder injury, while Allen left with a bruised shin. Worthy was injured after catching a pass in traffic and landing on his right shoulder. Last season, Worthy injured his right shoulder in Week 1 and missed the next two games before returning and catching 42 passes for 532 yards and one touchdown.
Allen, a rookie fifth-round pick out of Cincinnati, collided with a teammate covering a punt.
“I hate to see somebody get hurt, especially on a special teams drill,” Chiefs special teams coordinator Dave Toub said. “We’ll see how he is. He’s really doing well on offense and he’s doing well for me, too. He’s a gunner, he’s at returner, he’s doing a real good job. He’s put himself in a good position to be a guy that’s going to help us this year.”
The Chiefs are off Sunday and will practice in pads Monday.
