KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Chiefs on Friday announced the return of Eric Bieniemy as offensive coordinator.

Bieniemy previously served as the team’s offensive coordinator from 2018-22, helping the Chiefs win two Super Bowls. Bieniemy was part of coach Andy Reid’s first staff in 2013, first serving as the team’s running backs coach for five seasons before being promoted to offensive coordinator.

Bieniemy replaces Matt Nagy, who was the team’s offensive coordinator the last three seasons. After leaving the Chiefs, Bieniemy served as offensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders in 2023, offensive coordinator and running backs coach at UCLA in 2024 and running backs coach with the Chicago Bears in 2025.

This past season the Bears ranked third in rushing yards per game (144.5). Now Bieniemy reunites with Reid and Patrick Mahomes and Co., although there is plenty of work to do. The Chiefs offense has slowed the past two seasons and the team’s two top running backs — Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt — are free agents.
